Richard Hastie (Vice Chair of Governors/Co-opted Governor)

Richard Hastie Picture
I live in Nantwich with my wife Julie and two Sons; Ben who is in year 2 and Oliver who is in reception. I was born in Heswall, Merseyside but I’ve lived in Cheshire for the past 15+ years.

I joined the School Governing body at the start of the 2012/2013 academic school year as a parent Governor. I am currently the Vice-Chair of Governors for Acton and I’m also responsible for computing across both Acton and Calveley schools as part of the federation.

My working life started out as a computer programmer for GPT in Liverpool (they built all the telephone exchanges in the UK!) For the last 22 odd years I have worked in various roles within the IT industry. I am currently the EMEA Business Development director for Mellanox Technologies; a US-based networking company.

I believe it’s been one of our best decisions in choosing Acton for our children’s education. We have seen Ben and Oliver grow in confidence, academically and as people, in the fantastic environment provided at Acton.

Volunteering as a Governor gives me the chance to put something back into the school and help on its continued journey to provide the best environment possible for the children.
