Laura Leather (Parent Governor)

I am one of the newest recruits onto Acton’s Governing Body, joining early in 2014.  Although relatively new to Acton, I have served as governor for around 8 years at Calveley.  I have been the Chair there for the last 2 years.

I have undertaken plenty of training during my time as a governor and have undergone 2 full OFSTED inspections and 3 HMI visits in the last couple of years, which has given me an excellent insight into the role that strong governing bodies must fulfil.  In addition, I have a particular interest in special educational needs so am very pleased to have been given the role of SEN Governor.

My professional background is in Marketing and I have worked for a broad spectrum of organisations from Kellogg’s and Shell to, latterly, Marketing Director of Wedgwood and then Morphy Richards.  I am Mum to Ruby and Daniel in Year 1, which alongside my roles on the Acton and Calveley Governing Bodies and also as a Director and Trustee for a Down’s Syndrome educational charity keeps me busy!

Acton is a fantastic school and in the federation with Calveley, both schools are going from strength to strength. Being part of this journey is amazing.
